A Tribute to the 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show

When people think about certain things, there’s almost invariably a city that personifies what they’re thinking about. Craving a cheesesteak sandwich; head on over to Philadelphia! In the mood to listen to some smooth jazz; make your way to the Windy City of Chicago! Want to hit the open water in a yacht; Ft. Lauderdale is exactly where you want to be!

That’s right: if there’s one thing that Ft. Lauderdale is known for, it’s being the yacht capital of the world. Yachters come from all over the country and even internationally to sail in the pristine waters off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale—and, once a year, there’s a giant celebration that marks just how iconic yachts are to Ft. Lauderdale: the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show.

Another year of festivities

This year’s 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show will take place from October 30 to November 3. Running steady now for 55 years, the boat show is something you can’t afford to miss! Covering over three million square feet of space and featuring every brand, model and type of yacht you could imagine, the show has something for everyone.

What can you expect to see this year at the 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show? Take a look at what’s new, what’s returning and what you can look forward to while you’re attending:

AquaZone: For the very first time ever at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, you can participate in a number of awesome water-based activities at the “AquaZone:” a 25-foot-by-50-foot 15,000-gallon tented pool that will host examples and activities such as paddle boarding, outboard motor demonstrations, kayaking and more!

Film festival: With videos taken by yachters and other boating enthusiasts, the film festival is one of the biggest and most exciting attractions that the 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show has to offer. From short sailing films to amazing shark footage and more, you’ll see yachting adventures on the big screen!

Fishing seminars: The IGFA School of Sportfishing will be on site at the boat show to give mini-sessions and small seminars, covering a wide array of topics. Check out some of the latest gear, speak with experienced anglers and share tips and tricks with other prospective fishermen milling around the event! There will even be kids clinics running, to help the young anglers in your family.

There are even more delightful exhibits, seminars, demonstrations and sights to see at the 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, so don’t wait to get your tickets! Tickets for opening day are $40 at the door, while two-day passes for the remainder of the event will run $42 and general admission per day is $24.
