Fort Lauderdale, FL – Starboard Yacht Group has been selected to perform a stabilization refit on the iconic yacht “Octopussy“. Delivered by Heesen in 1988, she went down in history as the fastest superyacht in the world at that time.
“Octopussy” was hauled out on June 13th at Safe Harbor Lauderdale Marine Center in South Florida to start a refit by Starboard Yacht Group. The owner wants to restore the vessel’s original performance after previous owners’ alterations caused the yacht’s inability to go over 15 knots of speed.
The project, which is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2023, includes the installation of 3 Seakeeper gyro-stabilizers, Humphree’s trim and stabilizing system, and a new propulsion system. Starboard Yacht Group will be in charge of the whole project. With their expertise in stabilization, engineering, naval architecture, and vessel’s performance optimization, they are hoping to restore this yacht to its original glory.
The Starboard Yacht Group’s team will be working closely with the original naval architect that designed the vessel (Mulder Design) to achieve the best results possible and make this iconic yacht better than ever without changing the essence of its original design.
